Fokker Dr.1 Triplane Replica

This aircraft is a replica of the Fokker Dr.1 Triplane used in World War I. It was obsolete by the time it was put into service at the front. It was slow and the top speed was only 105 mph, but it was a fast climber and highly maneuverable. The aircraft was difficult for beginning pilots to fly, but in the hands of an experienced pilot it was a worthy adversary. It is powered by a 110 hp Oberursel Rotary engine, a license-built copy of the famous 110 hp Le Rhone Rotary. Interest in the aircraft can be attributed to the German ace Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron, having been killed while flying the triplane, and also to Charles Schulz's comic strip, "Peanuts." There are no original Fokker Triplanes left.
