These are images that represent a vision that I saw when taking the base photograph. Some of these are historically based, although they may not be 100% historically accurate, and are intended to make you feel what it may have been like during that event/time. Each image starts from something I have photographed in real life and when possible, historical graphic assets from various sources are leveraged to add detail. Pinned down
Taken at the 2018 Massachussetts Military History Expo in Orange, MA, this scene represents what improvised defensive positions may have looked like in an area with little cover. It was common for troops from allied countries to fight alongside each other.
Stalingrad
The Russians put up a ferocious defense against the Germans in Stalingrad and other locations along the front. This is how I imagine what might have transpired during a night battle near the Central Department store near Ostrovsky Street. The core image is of a German Panther Ausf. A tank that I photographed at the American Heritage Museum in Hudson, MA.

Kursk
The Russians put up a ferocious defense against the Germans in Kursk and other locations along the front. This is how I imagine what might have transpired during a night battle. The Battle of Kursk was the largest tank battle in history, involving some 6,000 tanks, 2,000,000 troops, and 4,000 aircraft. The core image is of a Russian T-34/85 tank that I photographed at the American Heritage Museum in Hudson, MA.
